Leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, is delighted to announce that Mike Maguire has received the annual Hazel Ball volunteer of the year award.

The award bears the name of our friend and colleague, Hazel Ball, who we sadly lost in 2015. Hazel first joined our Board of Trustees in 1980, and was a vocal advocate for the work of our charity throughout her career and in retirement.

Stagecoach South West Managing Director Mike Watson has brushed off his drivers uniform to drive the number 2 bus route connecting Exeter with Dawlish, Teignmouth and Newton Abbot.

Huge community effort supports vulnerable families

Exeter City Football Club players Jake Taylor, Matt Jay and Nigel Atangana took a break from training to support a massive community effort to provide food for Exeter’s most vulnerable children and their families.

Exeter CITY Community Trust, in partnership with Exeter City Futures, has undertaken the huge task of assembling substantial parcels of food, personal care products, and energy vouchers for around 550 vulnerable families in Exeter and Cranbrook.

The South West’s tourist industry and the emergency services are warning visitors against travelling to the region before lockdown measures are due to be relaxed on 12th April.

Exeter Cathedral School is once again celebrating the success of its Year 8 pupils, all of whom have been awarded places to leading senior schools, with 84% of pupils achieving at least one award.

Pupils have been offered a range of awards and places including some with double or triple scholarships. Tireless learning disabilities campaigner marks his 104th birthday

Devon’s Major Geoff Bird (MBE), who has spent more than 50 years campaigning, championing, and raising money on behalf of those with learning disabilities, marks his 104th birthday on Friday (March 26).

He joined the Navy in 1940, transferred to the Army as a private before rising through the ranks in the Royal Hampshire Regiment, serving in both Italy and Greece.
