Councillor steps down from party after assault allegations

A Mid Devon District Councillor has stepped down from his party after allegations of assualt have emerged.

Cllr John Squire, who serves the Yeo Ward near Crediton is alleged to have committed the offenses at a Crediton Address in July earlier this year. He has yet to be arrested or be formally charged but it has been confirmed that Squire has stepped down from the Conservative group.

Exeter academic helps BBC team recreate past

Following the long-running success of BBC Two’s living history series, Victorian, Edwardian and Wartime Farm, a new series will be exploring life at the end of the Middle Ages in Tudor Monastery Farm. University of Exeter historian Professor James Clark was the programme consultant for the six part series in which he features onscreen as the team’s guide and mentor from the monastery, dressed in an authentic medieval habit. The first episode of the new TV series will be broadcast on Wednesday 13 November at 9pm.

Action on litter in two of Exeter's parks

Exeter City Council and Exeter College are joining forces in an effort to combat the problem of littering in Northernhay Gardens and Bury Meadows Park.

The council and the college have been tackling the issue which they believe is caused by a small minority of young people who fail to behave responsibly.

Council staff regularly engage with people using the parks, asking them to put their rubbish in the bins provided.

Local NHS service launches artwork competition for school children

ALL primary school children in Exeter are being invited to enter an NHS drawing competition and show off their artistic talent.

Children aged five to 11 in all 29 primary and special needs school in the city now have the chance to express their creativity with a picture of what being healthy means to them.

The arts competition is being organised by the Northern, Eastern and Western Clinical Commissioning Group (NEW Devon CCG) whose core value is the promotion of healthy people leading healthy lives in healthy communities.

Spacex is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Hunt as the organisation’s new director.

Hunt joins from Focal Point Gallery in Southend-on-Sea, where he has been director since 2008. Details of Exeter's Remembrance Sunday Service announced

Stagecoach South West supports 2013 Poppy Appeal

Stagecoach South West is helping to support the Royal British Legion's 2013 Poppy Appeal which honours and remembers service personnel who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
