Crediton, the birth place of St Boniface, who according to legend invented the Christmas Tree, stages its ninth Christmas Tree Festival at Crediton Parish Church in early December.
Decorated and illuminated Christmas Trees, from six to twenty feet in height, are all decked out in many imaginatives ways by local charities, children's groups and organisations will fill the church providing a spectacular display especialy as the natural light fades during the afternoons. Valerie Barden was born in Buckinghamshire in 1938; she studied at Yeovil College of Art and later Art History with the Open University. She lives in Devon with her husband Robert Organ. Barden has been exhibiting professionally since 1994; Piers Feetham Gallery, London; Salisbury Playhouse; Town Mill, Lyme Regis and the Brewhouse, Taunton. Her work is held in the Bridgeman Art Library.
