Chef Michael Caines and the team at Lympstone Manor are thrilled to have won Best Hotel in the Food Reader Awards 2022. Championing the South West’s best independent food and drink businesses, the Food Reader Awards were celebrated with a ceremony at Windslade Manor on Monday 27th June. Following over 100,000 nominations and votes, Lympstone Manor made it to the final with support from over 10,000 readers of FOOD Magazine. Please join us for the Alphington Garden Trail, taking place on Sunday 17th July, with five gardens and the Ide Lane Allotments opening to the public to raise funds for Rainbow Living.

Combined admission: adults £5 and under 16s free for entrance to all venues. Tickets can be purchased at any garden entrance via cash or card at some venues – please see poster for details. We’ll be selling home-made jams and marmalades + refreshments at some gardens.

Bradfords smashes target to get men talking during Men’s Health Week

Bradfords Building Supplies has donated £10,000 to men’s health charity Movember after smashing its target of 50,000 views for its Men’s Health Week video. More than 185,000 people saw the video message to check in on a mate over the course of the awareness week (13-19 June 2022).

Sports stars including Exeter Chiefs RFC and England player, Henry Slade, plus Somerset County Cricket Club captain, Tom Abell, featured in the video which was hosted across Bradfords’ various channels including YouTube.

Exeter students deliver top medical care to revellers at Glastonbury

Nursing and medical students from the University of Exeter put their learning into action by volunteering in the delivery of first-rate medical care to festival goers at this year's Glastonbury event.

A mixture of students from both the University’s Exeter and Truro campuses volunteered to be first responders at the festival, to gain real-life experience in responding to incidents and illnesses at one of the biggest festivals in the UK.

Travel advice ahead of Devon County Show

Drivers planning to use the M5 near Exeter are advised to plan their journeys ahead of this week’s three-day Devon County Show at the Westpoint Arena.

The show, to be held on Thursday, 30 June, Friday, 1st July and Saturday, 2nd July, averages an attendance of up to 100,000 people over the three days at the Clyst St Mary venue near Exeter, with increased traffic anticipated on the M5 north and south of junctions 29 and 30, the A30 east and west of Exeter and the A38 south of Exeter.

Bloor Homes launches new Exeter region

On 1st July 2022 ‘Bloor Homes Exeter’ will officially launch as a new region for the company, creating new jobs and ensuring the continued delivery of its new, quality homes across the South West of England.
