Pop up restaurant a roaring success

Customers of Exeter's The Real Food Store and Pickle Shack pop-up restaurant regulars were indulged with three courses of local fare following the successful collaboration of the two businesses.

The Real Food Store is a community owned store and cafe consisting of over 300 members, staff and board members.

The store was set-up by enthusiastic food lovers who upheld values of sustainability, locality and seasonality, ideals which mirror those of Michelin trained chef and founder of Pickle Shack, Josh McDonald-Johnson.

Remaining CO2 emission ‘quota’ may be used up in one generation and half of all fossil fuel reserves may need to be left untapped

Carbon dioxide emissions, the main contributor to global warming, are set to rise again in 2014 - reaching a record high of 40 billion tonnes.

The 2.5 per cent projected rise in burning fossil fuels is revealed by the Global Carbon Project, which is co-led in the UK by researchers at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research at the University of East Anglia and the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences at the University...

Killerton apple festival takes place on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October from 10am-5pm.

The orchard will be festooned with bunting, stalls scattered between the apple trees, Morris dancers will bless the orchard for a good crop of apples for the following harvest plus a lot more.

It's going to be a weekend full of fun and activities and it would be a shame to have to wait a whole year before you could experience the Apple Festival.
