Part of Theatre West’s autumn season ‘The One Day Project’Theatre West presents Icarus in Love, a new play written by Edson Burton, part of the company’s intriguing autumn season ‘The One Day Project’. The season features five new plays which all take their inspiration from the global happenings of one day in history - 1 October 2013.

Icarus in Love, opens on 25 November and runs until 6 December at The Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter.

It will be preceded by Drifters, a short play by Martin Malcolm.

Magdalen Chapter is Large Hotel of the Year

The Magdalen Chapter is delighted to announce it has been named Silver Large Hotel of the Year in the Devon Tourism Awards.

Baby rabbits dumped in Exmouth

The RSPCA is appealing for information after two young rabbits were found dumped in a pet carrier next to bins in Exmouth.

The two bunnies were discovered at 8.30am on Friday 14 November near to the entrance of flats in an alleyway off High Street, next to the Famous Ship pub. They were inside a bright blue plastic pet carrier.

It is thought that the rabbits may have been left there some time during the night and, despite having no food, water or bedding in the carrier, both were in good condition.

Police renew telephone bank scam warning

Police are warning residents to beware as fraudsters continue to target communities by telephone, particularly elderly and vulnerable people.

Three further incidents of telephone fraud have been reported in the Honiton and Crediton areas of Devon and St Agnes in Cornwall, totalling £138,000.

Fraudsters contact victims by telephone informing them that their accounts have been fraudulently accessed or that the bank has increased security.

Victims are then instructed to contact a false helpline or redial a legitimate number, with the current line kept open. The victim...

How do you learn how to be a good gorilla? You go to gorilla school, of course.

And 12-year-old Kivu is earning top marks when it comes to sitting in a barrel.
