Wurzels promote farm safety

Rural musicians The Wurzels have joined forces with The Farm Safety Foundation to create an unconventional farm safety video aimed at encouraging farmers to commit to being safer and more professional on the farm.

The West Country’s rural songsters have re-recorded their iconic ‘Combine Harvester’ song with new lyrics which has been paired with a light-hearted video produced by students at Moreton Morrell College. The song and video have uploaded to the internet for farmers to share on Twitter and Facebook.

Volunteers, staff and clients at Exeter Citizens Advice Bureau had a royal audience today when they received a visit from Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal.

The Princess Royal, who is patron of Citizens Advice, officially opened the bureau’s new offices in Dix’s Field.

During the visit she met Exeter CAB chair Dennis Mardon and was shown around the bureau by Chief Executive Steve Barriball, who introduced her to members of paid staff and volunteers. Cygnet’s graduating actors have begun working with Jemma Gross on two strong and wonderful plays, Nine and The Last Nickel by American writer Jane Shepard.

An elderly Exeter couple are tying the knot after finding love at the city hospice.

Christina Crocker, 67, and Charles Harris, 78, met at the Hospsicare bereavement support group after losing both their spouses. Their friendship blossomed into romance and the couple are marrying in May.

Both had spent many weeks at the hospice in Dryden Road as their partners were cared for by Hospiscare nurses and doctors. Their spouses died within three months of each other.

Now the happy couple have decided to ask wedding guests to donate money to Hospiscare instead of presents....
