Exeter accountants celebrate 25th birthday

Business owners and directors from 160 companies met at an historic West Country setting to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Exeter firm Sidaways Chartered Accountants.

The Chapter House at Exeter Cathedral was the historic venue for the celebration event, which was also helping to raise money for the company’s charity partner, Devon-based Farms for City Children.

Jeremy and Sarah Sidaway started the business, now based at Pynes Hill in Exeter, in 1990. Today, there are 10 employees and over 650 clients, across the South West and beyond.

New book explores Labour's history

The current battle for the leadership of the Labour Party is in full swing with televised show downs between the candidates hitting the airwaves. Exeter CAB reports drop in client debt

Exeter Citizens Advice Bureau says average client debt has fallen by £3,000 in the past 12 months.

The charity helped 1032 people directly with advice and information on 2424 individual problems.

On average, clients with money problems had debts totaling £7,334.90, down by £3,182.69 compared to the previous year when the average was £10,517.59

The amount of advice that the charity has been able to provide has increased in the following areas compared to last year:

Deafblind man's quay walk

To mark this year’s Deafblind Awareness Week, Roger Mulholland a young deafblind man is leading a sensory walk around the quay and river in Exeter on Tuesday 23 June.

Roger who is deaf and registered blind, is a regular volunteer at Café 55 a unique café in central Exeter staffed by disabled people and run by national deafblind charity Sense.
