District Council consults local people for their views on the creation of a new West Hill parish council

East Devon District Council is to begin asking local residents for their views on whether West Hill should have its own parish council separate from Ottery St Mary Town Council. A first period of public consultation – part of a ‘Community Governance Review’- is due to start 12 October 2015 and will conclude on 12 January 2016. Hotel donates TVs to Foundation charities

A popular Exeter hotel has donated television sets to a charity fundraising body, after undergoing a major refurbishment.

The Mercure Exeter Southgate underwent a £2.5m re-furbishment earlier this year. The hotel donated 20 television sets, which were previously in rooms, to the Exeter Foundation.

As a fundraising body, the Exeter Foundation offered the televisions to its member charities on a first come first served basis. The televisions were snapped up within 2 hours by a number of different charities.

Cat charity desperate for new volunteers

Cats Protection’s nine branches in Devon are desperately looking for new volunteers to help continue its work with unwanted and abandoned cats. According to restedpaws.co.uk , there are 17 million cats and dogs in the UK. Flock Together 2015

Flock Together will present a documentary series of paintings, drawings, prints and a video installation exploring sheep farming in the Blackdown Hills (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).

Through innovative use of technology, including webcams and GPS, the artists capture and reinterpret the close working relationship between a farmer, his sheep and his dogs. Sara and Debbie's resulting artworks combine hand made gestural marks with the marks generated by drawing machines.
