Exeter physicist takes research to Parliament

A University of Exeter researcher has been selected from thousands of competitors to present his research to MPs and expert judges at the House of Parliament, on Monday March 7.

Ryan Edginton, who is studying for a Phd in Physics, has been asked to present a poster on his research into the effects hydration has on the elastic proteins that form the connective tissue in the human body.

£120,000 of cannabis seized in Exeter

Police have seized a large amount of cannabis after reports of a strong smell were reported to Police on Thursday 4 March.

PCSO Will Malcolm and Sgt Harper attended the scene at 8.20pm and became aware of a very strong smell of cannabis coming from a property in Church Road, St Thomas, Exeter.

Eight large bin bags of cannabis and other drugs were successfully seized from the property amounting to at least 12kg with an estimated street value of £120,000.

A 25-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were arrested at the scene.

Devon’s Crealy sponsors kids' rugby club

Devon’s Crealy Great Adventure Park has announced it is sponsoring Withycombe Rugby Football Club (WRFC) over the next two years. Members of the club came to celebrate the sponsorship with a special kick around at the Park accompanied by Buddy Bear.

Exeter mum's search for lifesaving donor

A mother from Exeter who has leukaemia is appealing for people to register online as potential blood stem cell donors with Delete Blood Cancer UK.

The appeal is being made by 36-year-old mother of three Kate Barnett, who needs to find a matching donor to save her life. If a matching donor isn’t found for her, she will have to resort to receiving blood stem cells from her 17 year old son who is not a perfect match for her, which is a higher risk procedure than receiving blood stem cells from a perfectly matching donor.

International appeal to trace missing Exeter girl

Devon and Cornwall Police along with local authorities have launched an appeal to help them locate a missing 12-year-old Devon girl who’s been taken to Bangkok by her father.

A High Court Judge has ordered the release of details of Arisara Miles, who is known as ‘Zara’, who travelled to Thailand with her father without permission.

Zara and her father, Trevor Miles, left their home in Exeter and flew to Bangkok on November 10 last year. Her whereabouts since then are not known.
