Westbank celebrates 20 years of Kidzone with current and former attendees

Westbank Community Health and Care has celebrated the 20th anniversary of its dedicated childcare facility, Kidzone, with former and current attendees. The Ofsted-registered facility at Exminster cares for more than 140 children in total, offering nursery, pre-school, holiday clubs and wrap-around school care for children up to 11 years old. From early summer this year, Kidzone has accepted babies aged from 5 months, and this age group is slowly building.

Vodafone has announced it is working with the social change charity Good Things Foundation to connect digitally excluded families in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the UK.

Doctors in Devon are reminding both residents and visitors this bank holiday weekend that if you need urgent medical advice, there’s just one telephone number to remember – 111 .

Jurassic Fibre team raises £4,000 for Stroke Unit

A team from Jurassic Fibre has completed a 103-mile charity walk for Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital’s Stroke Unit and raised almost £4,000.

From 17 – 20 April, the group of employees trekked from Ivybridge in South Devon to Lynmouth in the north of the county. They crossed Dartmoor and Exmoor, navigating with a compass and sleeping under the stars.

A rising research star at the University of Exeter has received a prestigious international research award.

Dr Ke Li, from Exeter’s Computer Science department, has been given an Amazon Research Award to pioneer new research into improving the efficiency and proficiencies of computer firewalls.

Dr Li is one of 101 recipients of the award worldwide – and one of only three from the UK – and will receive $30,000 in total, consisting of $20,000 USD in unrestricted gift and an additional $10,000 USD in AWS Promotional Credits.

£3.1 million lottery win for Exeter locals

THIRTEEN neighbours from the same street in Exeter are over £110k richer, after winning a share of £3.1 million with People’s Postcode Lottery.

The good news came after their postcode sector, EX2 4, was announced as a winner with the lottery on Friday 30th April.

12 players in the full winning postcode of EX2 4RL won £110,714 each, with a 13th doubling their win to £221,428 thanks to playing with two tickets.

The gourmet kebab chain has confirmed that it will open a new restaurant at 177-181 Fore Street.
