All aboard - a new initiative to support Devon’s Young Carers

Devon Young Carers at Westbank has launched a new initiative to support young people who care for family members. Called the Young Carers Movement Group, it gives young carers a platform to share their views on the support service provided by Westbank Community Health and Care, as well as suggest improvements, and highlight additional support young carers would like to see in the future. The new group also provides a safe space to talk openly about the challenges and experiences of growing up as a young carer.

Staffing crisis for hospitality - Mickeys Beach Bar & Restaurant to close 2 days a week temporarily

Brand new Exmouth foodie destination, Mickeys Beach Bar & Restaurant, will be open 5 days rather than 7 at the start of July temporarily to maintain the highest standards of operation within the restaurant, whilst ensuring staff are well looked after. The restaurant will be closed on two Mondays and Tuesdays in July (Monday 5th & Tuesday 6th and Monday 12th & Tuesday 13th July), further dates will be reviewed there-after.

Devon taking action to remove Ash dieback infected trees

Urgent action is being taken to remove almost 1,500 Ash dieback infected trees from alongside Devon's major road network this summer in order to protect public safety on the county's roads.

Devon County Council has already started an essential programme of work, with almost 150 infected trees alongside the A388 at Holsworthy currently being felled. From Monday (12 July) work will start on the A399 at Brayford to remove 220 trees with Ash dieback that are within falling distance of the highway.

New bus timetable booklets out now

The latest bus timetable information in Devon is now available in handy booklets.

It's the first time since the pandemic that Devon County Council has printed the timetables, covering all of the districts across Devon and all service operators.

The information in the printed booklets is the most up-to-date available, but service times can change.

The inaugural celebration of NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers’ Day is set to take place on 5 July 2021, with Freemasons leading the event.

At 6:29pm today Sunday 4 July 2021 both Exmouth RNLI Lifeboats were tasked by H.M. Coastguard to search for a missing paddleboarder between Straight Point to east of Budleigh Salterton.
