One year ago today, the Devon Wellbeing Hub launched to support healthcare, social care and police staff impacted by COVID-19.

The Hub is one of 40 NHS mental health and wellbeing hubs that was set up across the country, funded by NHS England, in response to the impact of COVID-19. It is designed to be a place where someone concerned about their wellbeing can come, unpick their needs and be supported to get to the right services quickly. East Devon District Council (EDDC) is looking to make a list of potential sites that could be drawn upon to help develop its new local plan - which will help shape what and where developments will go for the next 15 years and more.

Sidmouth Undercliff Walkway closed following cliff fall

Following a small cliff fall on the undercliff walkway in Sidmouth the walkway will remain closed until East Devon District Council (EDDC) can be confident that there is no further risk to the public.

The small cliff fall took place on Sunday morning. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) were made aware of this by the police, and attended site confirming that there were no injuries and sealed off the walkway due to the risk of potential further falls.

Health officials are warning that cases of COVID-19 – and other diseases that normally circulate in winter – are rising.

Increased social contact is thought to be one of the factors behind an increase in illnesses, which include flu and norovirus, sometimes known as the “winter vomiting bug”.
