Leading South West building services engineering company EX2 Group has welcomed three new apprentices this week, as they begin their professional training in Electrical Installation with Exeter College.

Christian, Alfie, and Harvey were welcomed to the Exeter offices by James Rayner (right), Project Manager. Covid rates rising in Devon

With Covid-19 rates rising, people attending health appointments at their GP or in hospital are being strongly encouraged to wear a mask. The same advice is being issued to people visiting friends or family in hospital or a care home.

There are currently six times as many people in Devon’s hospitals with Covid-19 than the beginning of June; over 300 patients. Households can save hundreds of pounds every year by switching from a private vehicle to car club membership, new research has revealed.

Mark Richardson, 50, a foodbank manager from Exeter, has told how he and his family saved £3,500 since giving up their private car in 2020.

With summer well and truly bere, Devon & Cornwall Police are asking everyone to have fun, drink responsibly and plan to get home safely.

Casual swimmers should be aware of the risk of drowning when taking a dip in the water during the hot weather, council leaders are warning today.

The Local Government Association, which represents councils across England and Wales, is urging people to keep safe in the water and learn what do in case of an emergency, ahead of next week’s heatwave.

Last year, 277 people died as a result of accidental drowning, an increase in 23 deaths from the previous year.

How to get vaccinated this summer

The spring booster programme draws to a close this month, but it’s not too late for people who are eligible to have their vaccination and clinics will still run over the summer.

People turning 75 on or after 1 July will not be eligible for the spring booster, however anyone who is eligible on 30th of June will still be able to have their vaccination during July.

Youth-focused organisations working in communities within three miles of Sovereign Housing Association homes are being invited to get involved with the Sovereign #iwill Fund.

Grants of up to £10,000 are available for projects that focus on youth social action to apply – applications open 18 July 2022 and close 5 August 2022. Sovereign’s Youth panel, made up of 18-25-year-old residents, will be involved in deciding which projects are awarded grants.
