In the fourth year of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as the war continues to ravage cities and uproot millions, Vyshyvanka Day 2025 takes on urgent new meaning. A thought-provoking new photography project is set to bring to life the mental health challenges young people experience. Images from the project, called (in)visible, will be exhibited in venues across Exeter and East Devon from May to November this year.

A themed celebration has been held at Westbank Community Health and Care on the eve of Victory in Europe Day to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two in Europe. On 8 May 1945 huge crowds took to the streets to sing, dance and rejoice after nearly six years of war against Nazi Germany. At Westbank’s Healthy Living Centre in Exminster today a group of staff, volunteers and regular service users, some of whom were small children when the war ended, gathered to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day and share their memories and thoughts about WWII.

UKHospitality, in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), is today announcing it will be running the new hospitality Sector-based Work Academy Programme (SWAP) in Exeter to help people into jobs in the sector and provide them with a Hospitality Skills Passport.

The new programme trains jobseekers with hospitality skills in a working environment and provides them with both work experience and a guaranteed interview with a choice of employers.
