In July EX2 Group was proud to support Building Greater Exeter’s Work Experience Week, an inspiring initiative aimed at introducing Year 10 students to careers in the built environment.

Is Fitz set for Judi's job?

BBC Radio Devon afternoon presenter David Fitzgerald is poised to take over from soon-to-be-axed Judi Spiers, the Daily understands.

According to sources, some staff were told of the planned appointment this afternoon.

It had been thought that another of the station’s casualties, Matt Woodley, would be taking the slot.

David, like Judi, is not a BBC employee and operates on a freelance basis.

He is an all-round broadcaster and TV presenter having spent a spell of his career at Sky.

David is believed to get on well with BBC Radio Devon’s managing...

Twitter account demands Judi back

A twitter account has been set up calling on BBC bosses to save popular presenter Judi Spiers’ show from the axe.

The Radio Devon stalwart told her audience this morning that this week would be her last.

She said: "This is my last week. But boy we've had some good times. We've had some dodgy times as well but on the whole we've had some good ones. We've had some dark times in recent days but hopefully they'll be blown away.”

It is not clear why the show is being dropped but the Daily understands it was not Judi’s choice to leave and that she is deeply saddened....

NHS Trust continues recruitment drive

THE Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust is to continue its recruitment drive by holding an open day in Okehampton later this month.

The Trust has already held five successful open days this year, in Barnstaple, Tiverton, Axminster, Seaton and Sidmouth.

It is holding a further event at Okehampton Hospital on Saturday 27 June (10am to 3pm).

The Okehampton event is for nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and other health professionals interested in working at community hospitals or in the Trust’s community teams, which support patients in their own homes...

Exeter Wheelers climb Stoke Hill 100 times in Everesting Relay

Exeter Wheelers Cycling Club took part in a hill climb relay challenge up to the top of Stoke Woods to publicise their Hill Climb Festival to be held on 19th September.

Members of the club made 100 ascents of the Stoke Woods Hill (as seen in the Tour of Britain) in teams of three over the course of the day, the cyclists successfully climbed over 29,000ft, the equivalent of climbing Mt Everest to help publicise the clubs upcoming Hill Climb Festival.

Hill climbing is a long-running time trial tradition, which is well-represented in the South West with Minehead Cycling Club...

East Devon supports Armed Forces Day

East Devon District Council was proud to be one of 450 councils - when it raised the British Armed Forces Flag at Knowle in Sidmouth today (22 June) - taking part in celebrations to support the 7th annual Armed Forces Day, which is being held on Saturday 27 June.

This nationwide morale boosting campaign publically recognises the braveness and hard work undertaken by serving troops, reservists, veterans, cadets and Service families. The flag will continue to remain flying in the week leading up to Armed Forces Day.

Tithebarn Link Road nears completion

Work on the Tithebarn Link Road is nearing completion, with the first section of the route due to open on Friday 26 June. The initial stretch will connect Cumberland Way to Pinn Lane. Pinn Lane will be closed to motor vehicles for a short distance immediately south of the new road to remove through-traffic from the southern section of Pinn Lane. This will create a safer route for pedestrians and cyclists. Work on the remainder of the road, from Pinn Lane to the Science Park, will continue over the coming weeks and should be completed by mid-July. When complete the new £4.2 million road...

I find it incredibly frustrating when I get to the traffic lights on Alphington Street and want to turn right into Haven Road. So many drivers seem to think that they cannot enter the yellow box junction and they just sit there, and sit there, and sit there!

What The Law States: “You may enter the box and wait when you want to turn right, and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic, or by other vehicles waiting to turn right.”

New book explores Labour's history
