In July EX2 Group was proud to support Building Greater Exeter’s Work Experience Week, an inspiring initiative aimed at introducing Year 10 students to careers in the built environment.

Exeter time travel experiment to be broadcast

There will be a live broadcast of time travel being screened at Walkabout in Exeter on Friday.

A lady known as Anna from Exminster put an ad on Gumtree to find a companion after she believed she had invented a time machine.

Similar to the story in the film Safety Not Guaranteed, which came out in 2012, Anna has faced skeptics in the press.

A Devon photographer has won a national zoo photography award.

Ray Wiltshire, from Paignton, took the award with his picture, Forty Winks, showing Bornean orang utan mother Mali and baby Tatau asleep on their island at Paignton Zoo.

The British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) announced the winners of its annual photography competition sponsored by Wildlife Vets International at an award ceremony hosted by Woburn Safari Park. Baby boost for Devon beavers

Devon Wildlife Trust is delighted to announce the birth of kits born to the first wild colony of beavers in England.

The births signal the latest chapter in a story which has attracted great support from the local community.

Living Streets welcomes pavement parking bill

National charity Living Streets, which campaigns for pedestrians, today welcomes North Dorset MP Simon Hoare’s Private Member’s Bill calling for a ban on pavement parking in England and Wales.

The bill will receive its first reading in the House of Commons today.

Big thanks to Debbie from Mad Cakes for launching our Big Devon Bake Off – she popped into our Exeter hospice with these amazing Lego cakes!

Our Hospiscare staff and volunteers enjoyed tucking into these cute little fellas raising £26, which is the first money in our Bake Off kitty.

Radio Exe the last bastion of live city prime time shows

The departure of Judi Spiers from BBC Radio Devon also looks set to herald the end of daytime live broadcasting from Exeter.

From Monday, Chris Diniss's Radio Exe programme will be the only daytime radio show – commercial or BBC – to broadcast from Exeter.

Radio Exe’s managing director Paul Nero told the Daily: "Clearly some listeners may be unconcerned that shows that purport to be local actually come from Plymouth, as with the BBC from next week, or London, as with Heart.

As exclusively revealed by the Exeter Daily yesterday, David Fitzgerald is to take over the presenting slot currently occupied by Judi Spiers.

Fitz and his Producer Monica Ellis will be moving to the Mid-Morning Show on BBC Radio Devon from Monday 6 July.

The BBC also announced this afternoon that Pippa Quelch will be the new voice of Drive Time.

Pippa, who was born and grew up in Devon, will present a mixture of news, travel and music each weekday from 5pm – 7pm in her new Drive Time Show.

Research by the University of Exeter has helped underline new national guidelines to help GPs diagnose cancer earlier, and save lives.

Professor Willie Hamilton, at the University of Exeter Medical School, was a major contributor to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence’s (NICE) process to consider the latest evidence in formulating guidelines for use in general practice and healthcare settings. RWC2015 arts projects win Lottery funding

Two art projects celebrating the Rugby World Cup 2015 coming to Exeter have won grants from the National Lottery.

The projects showcase the cultures of the visiting nations – Namibia, Tonga, Romania, Italy and Georgia – through film and performance.

Both successfully secured Grants for the Arts from the National Lottery through Arts Council England for Rugby World Cup 2015 projects. They are also being funded by Exeter City Council
