An extraordinary musical event is shaping up for a Devon-based music project. Wren Music is set to welcome Valskorinn, a choir from Iceland to perform a sparkling concert of vocal music alongside Voices In Common who are based in Exeter.

A new show is touring venues in Devon and Dorset to celebrate International Women’s Day 2018, after an appeal for women to join the choir led to 63 arriving for rehearsals!

‘Aint’ I A Woman’ is the third ‘Her Story’ show organised and written by Devon-based arts charity, Wren Music, and featuring women from across the South West. For some of the 63, this will be their first experience of singing on a stage.

North and South meet for fiddle spectacular

Fiddle and violin players from across the South West are invited to an exciting day of music-making led by expert tutors in Okehampton.

The Wren Music Fiddle Day on Saturday 25th June is a chance for experienced players and complete beginners to develop their playing and their knowledge of the instrument.

The day focuses on learning new skills and techniques as well as repertoire development, with a chance for other acoustic instruments to join in the afternoon.

Wren Music is bringing together five choirs and one of its youth groups, to present a seasonal winter celebration of singing this year. There will be over 100 singers, mince pies, mulled wine and a Christmas hamper raffle all in the lovely setting of St. David’s Church Exeter.

The event takes place on Saturday 19th December and the concert begins at 7.30pm. Admission is by donation and the proceeds of the night will go towards Wren’s youth programme.

Wren Music set to raise the roof at Exeter Cathedral

South West music charity Wren Music marks the culmination of its 30th anniversary programme with a Grand Concert at Exeter Cathedral featuring 250 musicians and singers.

Wren is blending the voices and instruments of its five choirs and four orchestras from north, south, east and west Devon for the concert, along with Wren’s county-wide youth groups, Roots Acoustic and Roots A Capella.
