WESC Foundation – The Specialist Centre for Visual Impairment is proud to announce the opening of their sixth Social Enterprise Charity Shop in Cowick Street, St Thomas.

Based in Exeter, WESC Foundation is a school and college that supports visually impaired learners, many of whom also have complex needs, from across the South West as well as providing outreach services to mainstream schools and colleges.

WESC Foundation, the Exeter-based specialist centre for visual impairment, has revealed a groundbreaking new computer game being developed by research associate Jonathan Waddington to make a real difference to the lives of learners with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) – the term used when the brain misinterprets signals from otherwise healthy eyes.

On Friday 7 February, the Rt Hon Hugo Swire MP visited the WESC Foundation in Exeter to say a special thank you to one of the learners at the Specialist Centre for Visual Impairment. Jacob Towner, aged 14, was the lucky learner whose Christmas card design was chosen by the Member of Parliament for East Devon to send out his Christmas wishes.

A new perspective on art that touches all the senses

Exeter School is to exhibit artwork produced by WESC Foundation pupils and students for the second year running. An exhibition of sensory artwork produced by visually impaired artists will be held from 18-21 June, 10am – 3pm, in the Andrews Hall to which all are invited, beginning with a private view on Monday 17 June from 6-7.30pm.
