One of the leading developers behind the Cranbrook expansion scheme has donated £1,000 to a local parish council.

Persimmon Homes South West selected Broadclyst Parish Council as one of its latest Community Champions winners after it applied for funding to set up a Little Free Library in Tithebarn, located at the entrance to the developer’s Cherrywood Grange site.

Girlguiding South West England visited one of its counties, Devon, on Friday 8 March as part of its region roadshow programme, inviting members from Girlguiding Devon along with stakeholders and organisations from across the county to celebrate International Women’s Day and to help launch their new resource, ‘Empower in a Box’.

South West divorce hotspots revealed as new data shows dramatic drop in applications

The latest release from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows divorces plummeted in 2022, following the introduction of ‘no fault divorce’ in April that year. The data, which covers January – December 2022, shows that divorces dropped by 30% compared with the previous year – the lowest number since 1971.

In conjunction with these statistics, the latest figures from the 2021 Census have unveiled the regional divorce landscape. Torbay has the highest divorce rate (11.5%) in the South West and the eighth highest in the UK.

More than 350 businesses from across the South West have already expressed their interest in the new £200 million South West Investment Fund (SWIF) just weeks after its launch.
