Fire service seeks residents' views on funding and quality of service

Residents across Devon and Somerset are being asked their views on the part of the council tax that covers fire and rescue.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Authority, which covers fire and rescue services in the two counties, are encouraging residents to complete the annual council tax precept survey .

The survey asks residents to share their views on the service provided by their fire service and the level of precept they would pay to maintain these services.

When to call 999 this Christmas

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) is urging people only to call 999 this Christmas if someone is seriously ill or injured, or their life is at risk.

Demand for the ambulance service is likely to peak over the next two weeks when staff are expecting to respond to more than 3,000 calls a day.

New extended bus service to Exeter Quayside

A new trial weekend bus service to Exeter’s Quayside is set to begin early next month. As part of a six-month trial, the H service will stop at the Quayside on Friday and Saturday evenings between 7pm and 11pm and on Sundays from 8:30am and 11pm. Firefighters call for cuts to agenda to be dropped on anniversary of Cathedral Yard fire

On the anniversary of the blaze that ripped through the historic Cathedral Yard area of Exeter last October, firefighters in the region are calling for an end to dangerous fire service cuts.
