The council is preparing to debate its budget plans for the coming financial year and invites comment as it moves towards a final budget for 2016/17.

The initial proposals detail savings made by the council over the past year and planned savings in years to come with further investment in key projects that help support the economy and housing growth.

Teignbridge has had a good track record of ‘low or no’ council tax increases but, as no...

Your chance to quiz councillors

People in Exeter are being given the chance to quiz councillors on any “burning” issues for the city.

Exeter residents are invited to put forward questions to members of the joint County and City Councils' Exeter Board, at their next meeting on 25 November at 6pm in the Civic Centre in Paris Street.

The Board allocates 15 minutes for their ‘open forum’, with 3 minutes per speaker, with a maximum of three to four speakers to allow time for discussion.

Previously, residents have prompted debate about issues including street lighting, homelessness and waste collection...

Have a say on how libraries are run

Devon County Council is inviting communities to work more closely with their library service, to have more say on how their local libraries are run.

The Council announced plans this month that aim to safeguard the futures of all 50 of its libraries, despite having to make significant savings due to reductions in Government funding.

Recent consultation concluded that most people understood the Council's financial challenge, indicating that they would be prepared to support their local libraries more, provided that professional staff were retained to run them.
