Green Your Clean with Recycle Devon

Recycle Devon is encouraging Devon residents to ‘Green Your Clean’ this summer by sharing greener ways to clean our homes to reduce the amount of waste produced by shop bought cleaning supplies

The Green Your Clean campaign launches on Monday 5 July and runs until Sunday 1 August. Devon residents who take part in this waste reduction challenge can win one of 10 greener clean kits containing a range of natural ingredients which can be made into cleaning products for around the home.

Exeter Uni expert welcomes ban on microbeads

The Government has announced plans to ban microbeads used in cosmetics and cleaning products by 2017.

Environment Secretary Andrea Leadsom has announced that a consultation on how a ban would work will start later this year.

Tamara Galloway, Professor of Ecotoxicology at the University of Exeter, is one of the UK’s leading experts in marine pollution and her team studies the health effects of microplastics pollution.

Sainsbury’s recalls Camembert cheese products

Sainsbury’s is recalling a number of its Camembert cheese products with use by dates up to and including 6 March 2016 due to low levels of Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause foodborne illness, particularly among vulnerable groups – these are pregnant women, unborn and newborn babies, those over 60 years old and anyone with a weakened immune system.

The following products with use by dates up to and including 6 March 2016 are being recalled:
