Drugs arrests following Axminster death

Officers investigating the unexplained death of a woman in Axminster have arrested and bailed three people in connection with drugs supply offences.

Police were called to an address in Millwey Avenue on 5th December by the ambulance service.

Ambulance crews had to take a 40-year-old woman to the Royal Devon and Exeter hospital, but staff were unable to resuscitate her and she died later that day.

Police investigating are treating the death as unexplained, but will prepare a file for the coroner in due course.

Pensioner dies following road accident

An 87 year old Exeter woman involved in a traffic collison on Pinhoe Road has died. Police and emergency services were called to the accident at about 9.45 a.m. on Tuesday 18 December 2012.

The pensioner initially sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance.

Police closed Pinhoe Road for most of the day and it reopened at 4.30pm.

A 24-year-old Exeter woman was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and later released on police bail

Update: Police enquires have established that Robin Prescott got off a train at Liskeard at around 9.50am on Thursday 13th December.

Police are appealing to the public to inform them if they have seen the missing man in Cornwall, to contact them on 101 quoting police reference 0758 131212.

Ex-offender supports police Christmas theft campaign

A former prolific offender who stole from homes and vehicles across South Devon has joined forces with Devon and Cornwall Police to help prevent people from being a victim this Christmas.

The 36-year-old racked up 324 offences for burglary and vehicle crime but has now turned his life around and is helping police get the message across that ‘Not everyone is welcome this Christmas’.

Police officers from Exeter are holding a ‘meet the team’ event on Saturday 15th December at Bedford Square, Exeter.

Members of the public are invited to come along to meet the team and discuss any policing concerns they have about their local community.

Information received will help them determine the policing priorities for the local area.

Police officers will be on hand to offer crime prevention advice around personal and property security, as well as carry out free property marking for bicycles.

Burglars sought after Teignmouth school break in

Police are hunting for burglars who broke into sheds at Hazeldown Primary School in Teignmouth.

The offenders struck overnight on Tuesday 4th December and forced their way into two sheds in the school grounds. They stole two STIHL leaf blowers, one with a vaccum collection bag, plus three petrol cans containing fuel. The leaf blowers both have black handles and a white motor section with an orange-coloured patch. The petrol cans were green, red and grey. Woman seriously injured in M5 collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision on the M5 at Cullompton yesterday (5 December) which left one woman seriously injured.

At 13.35pm a red Volkswagen Transporter van and a silver Vauxhall Tigra collided on the southbound carriageway of the M5 two miles south of junction 28. The van had been travelling on the northbound carriageway when it struck the central reservation, crossing into the opposite carriageway where it was in collision with the other vehicle. 47-year-old man killed in M5 crash named

The man killed in the M5 fatal road accident on 5th December has now been formally identified as Alan Keith Clements, born on 24th September 1965, from Hengoed, just north of Oswestry in Shropshire.

Mr Clements was driving a black Ford Focus and other vehicles involved included a white Scania HGV, a black Honda Accord, a black Honda Jazz and a black Vauxhall Astra.

Superintendent Chris Eastwood has been appointed as the new police commander to lead policing in Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

Supt Eastwood has assumed responsibility for crime and community policing across the geographic area, which takes in towns such as Axminster, Tiverton and Honiton plus Exeter city centre.
