Man arrested after woman found dead in East Devon

Police are investigating the death of a woman found in a vehicle in East Devon.

Following information received police attended the area of Fenny Bridges in East Devon at around 4pm on Wednesday 2nd December.

A woman’s body was found in a vehicle in this area.

She has yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be a 71-year-old local woman.

A forensic post mortem will be carried out later today.

Investigating and scene of crime officers will today continue an examination of a vehicle and the area in Fenny Bridges where it was discovered....

Man seriously injured in Exeter hit and run

Police officers in Exeter are appealing for witnesses following a hit and run road traffic collision.

The incident occurred at around 11.20pm on Friday 27th November in St Davids Hill, at its junction with Howell Road.

The pedestrian casualty, a man, aged in his 40s, was crossing the road when he was in collision with a small dark hatchback type vehicle.

Following the collision the driver failed to stop and drove off down St Davids Hill in the direction of Exwick.

As a result of the collision the casualty sustained serious leg injuries requiring surgery....

Autism alert card launches in Devon

A new card designed to help people with autism is launched by Devon partners this week.

Devon & Cornwall police are hoping the autism alert card will help officers and other emergency services identify people on the autistic spectrum, and will support improved engagement.

Police officers will also be provided with awareness information as to how they can adapt and improve their communication style according to an autistic individual’s needs, and better respond to situations involving autistic people.

Op Slug cuts allotment crime in Exeter

Police in Exeter are so pleased with the results of Operation Slug that they are hoping to expand the operation.

The scheme has seen a 90% reduction in crime and allotment thefts using Smartwater, an invisible property-marking solution.

Launched across 26 of the city’s allotment sites, Op Slug has prevented burglaries to sheds and outbuildings. 1300 allotment holders have been protected, and their expensive garden tools from being stolen.

Police in Exeter are appealing for information following a racially aggravated incident in the City.

The incident occurred at around 4pm on Wednesday 21st October in Sidwell Street, Exeter, outside the Allstars Sports Bar.

A woman and her nine-year-old were walking in Sidwell Street when they were verbally abused by a woman. The abuse and comments made were regarded as both a racially and religiously motivated hate crime.

Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service are taking part in the Crediton Road Traffic Event on Saturday 28 November, working alongside the Police, HART ambulance team and the Honest Truth team.

Renewed appeal for witnesses to A30 crash

Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses to a collision on the A30 at Okehampton in which two elderly people were seriously injured.

Emergency services were called around 6.05pm on Thursday 12 November after the collision between and a DAF large goods vehicle and a Volvo S80 on the westbound carriageway at Sourton.

The Volvo was reported to have broken down in lane one at the time of the collision and officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the stationary car.

Drinkaware Club Hosts pilot launches

Devon and Cornwall Police have joined up the alcohol education charity Drinkaware to launch a pilot initiative in the region which aims to keep people safe at night.

Drinkaware in partnership with the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Tony Hogg, and the Safer partnerships have launched a six month pilot of Club Hosts at nightclubs across the peninsula.

The Club Hosts scheme started last week in Exeter, Plymouth, Torbay and Truro nightclubs and will work towards keeping young people safe and free from harassment on their nights out.
