Phonic FM is Exeter’s community radio station. Broadcasting across Exeter since 2008, it provides a locally-rooted alternative to mainstream radio, on FM and online.

Staffed and funded by around 70 volunteer members (representing a diverse mix of backgrounds, cultures and musical preferences), it aims to support the arts – in the widest sense – in and around the city. Phonic Takeover celebrates 10 years of broadcasting at Exeter Phoenix

On Saturday 9 June Phonic FM will take over Exeter Phoenix Arts Centre all day and evening with a giant FREE community event including:

  • Live music in the auditorium from 12noon until 11pm
  • Live music in the upstairs Voodoo Lounge from 12noon until 11pm
  • DJs on the outdoor terrace from 12noon until midnight
  • Storytelling and theatre in the workshop space from12noon until 6pm
  • DJs in the workshop space from 8pm until midnight
  • Phonic FM broadcasting live from the café-bar in the afternoon

Share your rugby story with Phonic FM

Exeter’s community radio station, Phonic FM, has commissioned a group of artists to produce four ‘radio portraits’.

These will be creative radio programmes, exploring the city and its communities as Rugby World Cup 2015 arrives in town this autumn.

The artists producing these radio portraits would love to hear from the people of Exeter, to weave their stories into these special radio programmes.

They’d especially like to hear from:

  • Teams and groups: these could be sports and games teams; craft and activity groups;
