The title role in Exeter’s own professional pantomime Aladdin, running at Exeter Corn Exchange until 6th January, is taken by sixteen year old Will Trafford in his first professional stage outing.

Given that his father is the writer, producer and director of the show you might say it was inevitable that Will would get a starring role, but there's no denying Will's pedigree, and he had to prove himself before getting the part.

Actor Daniel Page is loving being on stage at Exeter Corn Exchange and being hissed, booed and generally hated this Christmas, which isn’t the usual thing that professional actors hope for but in this case it’s perfectly normal as he plays Abanazer, the scheming and plotting baddie in Aladdin which runs from 15th December to 6th January.

Daniel has been all over the country as an actor and performer, but his first pantomime took place right here in Exeter. He says:

This is a fantastic production of a full scale adult pantomime, based on Aladdin.

The audience will shout It’s behind you, they will warn Aladdin when the villain is tying to steal the lamp. They will Shout Oh yes it is Oh no it’s not when directed to do so. They will boo the villains and Cheer the hero. Then again they may want to Boo the hero.

It’s a fun show, bawdy, yes, profane language, most certainly. You wouldn't bring your maiden aunt, well, not unless she bought her own ticket!
