For the very first time in history, Forestry England has confirmed that an alien has crash landed into Haldon Forest Park! Lu-La, from the Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon (in UK cinemas 18 October) is an impish and adorable alien with amazing powers. She has been stranded in the forest and needs to charge her communicator so that she can get a message back home to call for rescue!

Getting crafty at Christmas

From willow stars and garlands to beautiful Christmas wreaths – East Devon District Council’s Countryside team is laying on a series of festive craft making events next month just in time for Christmas.

Windrush Willow will be running a Willow Christmas decorations workshop in the Reed Base at Seaton Wetlands on Saturday 3 December from 10am to 1pm with an expert on hand to teach how to make garlands, wreaths and stars. The sessions are open to everyone.

All materials will be provided and everything you make can be taken home to decorate your home or to give as gifts this...

The Bear Trail set to get kids back in the great outdoors

Devon's latest outdoor adventure centre, The Bear Trail, is celebrating its official Opening Day on Saturday 23rd July. The Bear Trail is an innovative and challenging outdoor adventure trail set over a 10 acre site in Wescott, near Cullompton, which features over 16 separate obstacles where children (and adults!) can run, jump and climb their way across zig-zag bridges, high nets and bear-infested mud pits.

Scything basics: let's make hay!

Learn how to cut grass and weeds without the need of a noisy fossil fuel burning lawnmower or strimmer

This practical day course will cover how to use and maintain a scythe (a traditional mowing tool) and provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to mow anything from a small lawn to a meadow.

During the course we'll make hay the traditional way to encourage wild flowers in the meadow.

Tea and cake provided, participants must be 12+.
