Glastonbury is over for another year, but Lyme Regis is preparing to go global on Saturday (4 July) as this year’s Big Mix family youth music festival welcomes a world of talent to the town from near and far.
Fresh from their appearance and having a massive impact at Glastonbury, dance band KOG and the Zongo Brigade will headline the festival. Fronted by the irrepressible Ghanaian-born songwriter and performer Kweku Of Ghana their blend of West African rhythms, soul, funk, reggae and Latin jazz has taken them all over Britain and Europe and they arrive in Lyme Regis on the back of...
New York-based indie-rock trio Augustines (formerly We Are Augustines) have been making a name for themselves with their intense, freewheeling and passionate shows, which have been known to sell out in minutes. Made up of guitarist Billy McCarthy, multi-instrumentalist Eric Sanderson and drummer Rob Allen, the band’s first album became iTunes’ Alternative Album of the Year in 2011.
Young Devon-based indie band Morning Rush have been making a name for themselves with their melodic songs, strong vocal harmonies and piano-rich sound. This gig celebrates the launch of their first album.
Having gained recognition from the legendary Ray Davies, and Steve Knightley (Show of Hands), for their song-writing skills – they are now following in the footsteps of James Morrison and Ben Howard in their aim to put the West Country firmly on the musical map of Great Britain.
As individuals they have performed on records that have accumulated over half-a-billion sales, as a collective they form Brother Strut; the critically acclaimed funk and soul band. “You will wait a very long time indeed to see anything better, I can’t think who can top this” says Blues and Soul Magazine, awarding their debut album 10/10.
The general public responded to the album with similar enthusiasm and the album entered the UK iTunes chart at number 2. Subsequent recording deals in the USA, Italy, South Africa, South East Asia and Australia followed. Whilst the band also...

Mahler's Symphony No. 8, widely known as the Symphony of a Thousand because of the colossal forces employed (large orchestra, off-stage brass, organ, two adult choirs and a children's choir) is coming to Exeter Cathedral for the first time in many years. This performance follows Amadeus Orchestra's and Bournemouth Symphony Chorus' highly successful pairing for a performance of Mahler's second symphony in Exeter in 2013.
Tedburn St Mary Community Choir and guests will provide an evening's entertainment of popular songs from film and stage including Les Miserables and Fiddler on the Roof together with pop classics from the 1960s to the present day.
