Former Gemini, Heart and Radio Exe radio presenter Matt Young has unveiled a new networking initiative - Who Needs Instructions – to provide practical support for men to help them overcome mental health challenges.

With suicide rates amongst men at an all-time high, Matt believes that if men felt better able to talk to each other about the stuff that really matters, it would help prevent many from reaching crisis point.

Instead of snow, it was high winds and rain that tested the ever growing band of men who took part in Hospiscare ’s Men’s Walk this year. Just under 1000 resilient men signed up for the challenge, making it Hospiscare’s most successful Men’s Walk to date.

The weather conditions were again challenging but spirits were high as the walkers set off from the Double Locks pub. Along the route they were buoyed by an amazing team of dedicate volunteers offering support and encouragement. Put your best foot forward! Don’t delay and sign up for the Men’s Walk 2018 – that’s the message from Hospiscare. The 2017 event was a sell-out success, so would-be walkers are being urged to sign up as soon as possible so as not to miss out on a place on next year’s walk.

The walk, which will take place on Saturday, 17 March in Exeter, will follow a new 7-mile route starting and ending at the Double Locks canal-side pub. To keep spirits high there will be live entertainment and refreshments along the way.

A flashmob dance is to be staged in Exeter city centre as a local charity takes part in an international ‘rising’ against the abuse and exploitation of women.

Fashion retailer New Look is opening a stand-alone menswear store in Princesshay, Exeter this month.

The 1,900 sq. ft. store will open at 10am on Wednesday 9th November, and joins the collection of 16 New Look Men stores across the UK.

Mind Exeter launches new photography course

Local mental health charity Mind in Exeter & East Devon are offering 20 places on a free six-week participatory photography course.
