Torquay Barber Tackles Men's Mental Health Issues From His Barber Chair

Wellness experts and advocates are gearing up to inspire and enlighten visitors at this year's SpaFest, taking place at cinch presents CarFest from the 25th to the 27th of August at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire.

Among these remarkable advocates stands Tom Chapman, who has created a safe haven from his barber chair. Following the tragic loss of his friend Alex in 2015, Tom founded The Lions Barber Collective, a charity dedicated to suicide prevention. Their mission is to establish non-clinical, non-judgmental safe spaces where individuals feel at ease discussing their mental health while receiving guidance and information about available support.

Tom returns once more to this year's SpaFest, where guests can find him and his team at The Lions Barber Collective providing haircuts and an outlet for people to share mental health concerns.

Tom says: “SpaFest at CarFest last year was phenomenal for The Lions Barber Collective! The festival is a perfect space to discuss mental health because people are already emotionally charged, and music is highly linked to our emotions. When we are in this state it is the perfect place to capture people and open up conversations in a safe and confident way about mental well-being.”

Following the momentous success of last year, CarFest 2023 will again host a whopping seven magical festivals in one: AdventureFest, FoodFest, KidsFest, RetroFest, StarFest, SpaFest and of course, CarFest! Whether visitors are curious to learn more about wellbeing practices like yoga, or just want to hear from some of their favourite celebrities and wellness gurus, SpaFest will have something for everyone.

The brainchild of radio presenter Chris Evans, CarFest will be entering its 12th year this August, and it promises to be the best yet. With enough activities and attractions to keep the whole family entertained, it’s the perfect way to spend the Bank Holiday weekend.

Created in 2012, CarFest’s sole purpose has been to raise funds for UK children’s charities. Since its conception, the festival has raised millions for its partner charities. In 2023, CarFest will raise funds for BBC Children in Need, Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, My Black Dog, Rainbow Trust, Starlight Children’s Foundation, Teenage Cancer Trust, Young Epilepsy and local Hampshire-based charity Naomi House & Jack’s Place.
