Award winning ocean activist backs new eco beach wear brand

AN award-winning UK paddleboarder and eco pioneer is to be the face of a new Devon ethical beachwear brand, set up to help families make waves with their wardrobe.

David Haze – who was recently named Ocean Activist of the Year by Surfers Against Sewage at its Plastic Free awards – has joined forces with Ottery St Mary-based SeaSurf.

And the 38-year-old, from Dorset, who is a nine-times world record stand up paddleboarder, has pledged to help the fledgling business in its war against waste.

Exeter Daily team launch new website dedicated to women's sport

A new website dedicated solely to women’s sport was launched today (Tuesday 14 July).

Women's Sport Daily will cover all female professional sport – from football, netball and cricket to tennis, golf and Olympic disciplines.

There will also be the chance to promote news about your school, club and local teams in a unique Community section, as well as exclusive interviews and columns from sporting stars and the people who influence how girls and women watch, play and enjoy the action.

Chiefs charity says 'Thanks A Million'!

A charity set up just six years ago to help promote the local community and the vision of people who and work there is today celebrating raising the sum of £1m.

Put together back in 2011 by three rugby directors and three local businessmen, the Exeter Foundation is a city-based charity that has been working tirelessly to bring future prosperity to the people in and around the Devon city.

And since its inception the Exeter Foundation has helped to directly fund over 75 different charities and organisations in a series of wide-ranging projects and schemes.

World's smallest RWC museum opens in Exeter

The world’s smallest museum dedicated to the Rugby World Cup in Exeter has been opened by two of the Exeter Chiefs stars who played a part in the 2015 tournament.

Hooker Elvis Taione and full-back Chrysander Botha helped to remember last year’s global tournament coming to the city, when they helped to officially open the museum, which is in the boardroom of Exeter PR, marketing and design firm Astley Media.

In the eyes of millions, Sandy Park and the City of Exeter were showcased in all its glory as five different countries battled for honours during three games.

Devon agencies in merger

Two Devon agencies have merged to broaden the offer they provide to clients.

Lisa Singleton, the owner of Zebra Design, has joined Astley Media as creative director.

The two firms have been working closely for 18 months but will become one business on April 1.

Lisa has built up a large portfolio of clients since launching Zebra, based in Tedburn St Mary, five years ago.

They will join those currently being served by Astley Media, which include EDF Energy, Aviva Investors and the Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel.

Mark Foster to speak at sports awards

Britain’s most decorated male swimmer Mark Foster has been confirmed as the guest speaker at this year’s Exeter Foundation Devon Sports Awards, held in association with Active Devon.

Mark represented England and Great Britain for 23 years, winning 47 major international medals, competing in 5 Olympic Games and breaking the World record 8 times. Since retiring, Mark enjoys a thriving television career including competing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2008.
