Large traffic jams have formed on the M5 Southbound following a car fire near Exeter this morning.
6 Fire engines in attended the scene on M5 junctions 24 Bridgwater to 25 Taunton when a car and caravan became engulfed in flames.
The smoke from the blaze was reported to have made driving difficult due to reduced visibility.
Police initally closed M5 north and southbound J24-25 because of the fire and asked that Motorists find alternative routes due to heavy traffic building in the area.

Update 2.30pm: On the M5 southbound in Somerset there are currently long delays between junctions J21 and J23 due to an earlier incident. All lanes are now open.
Lane 3 remains closed northbound for emergency repairs after the incident.
Update 12.30pm: The M5 Southbound carriageway remains closed between J22 and J23 following earlier collisions, causing delays of approximately two hours between junctions J21 and J22. The road is expected to re-open from 2.30pm. Northbound between J22 and J23, only one lane remains closed, however taffic is still very slow-moving.
A 17-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after the car he was travelling rolled on the M5 southbound near Cullompton.
The collision happened just before 11am today (Monday 19 August) about one mile past Junction 28.
Police, fire and ambulance services were called to the scene.
Five people were injured in the silver Toyota Avensis, which is registered to Pontefract, West Yorkshire.

There are reports of 30-minute delays and two lanes closed on the M5 northbound at J30, A376 (Exeter), because of an overturned caravan and recovery work. Drivers are warned that there is congestion to J31, A30 (Exminster).
The Police say that they received a report at 5.44am this morning of a fire on the M5 Southbound involving an articulated lorry with a trailer. The Southbound carriageway between Cullopmton and Exeter was closed while the fire service dealt with the fire. Southbound traffic was diverted via the B3181. The northbound carriageway was also closed for a time and then limited to lane 1 due to the smoke but was re-opened at 7am. The southbound carriageway remained closed until 7.30am when lane 3 southbound was re-opened.
Approximately 50 vehicles were stationary southbound.
Overnight closures are planned next week on the A30 westbound from Daisymount Junction to the junction of the A30/C832 near M5 Junction 29.
The closures will be over three consecutive nights on Wednesday 13th, Thursday 14th and Friday 15th February from 8pm to 6am to enable overhead gantry signs to be replaced over the westbound A30.
This work was previously postponed due to adverse weather.
During the closure of the A30 westbound, the A30 Daisymount Junction westbound on-slip will also be closed as well as the Airport Junction westbound on slip.
