Newton Abbot solicitors, Wollen Michelmore has recently grown the Family Law team with two additional members joining the already successful team.

The firm’s established solicitors Cate Jewell and Natalie Pouya have been joined by Gemma Stevens who is a Resolution Accredited Specialist in private law Children and Domestic Abuse.

Gemma deals with a variety of elements of family law, including divorce and financial settlement, children, domestic abuse and cohabitation agreements and disputes.

Solicitors Beviss & Beckingsale, which has offices in Honiton, Axminster, Seaton and Chard, has beaten off stiff competition to make it to the finals of the Devon & Somerset Law Society Legal Awards 2017.

A panel of judges selected Beviss & Beckingsale to go forward as a finalist in the category Law Firm of the Year (1 to 10 partners).

Devon lawyer tells grandparents not to despair if they lose contact with their grandchildren

In the week that we celebrated Grandparents’ Day, a family lawyer from East Devon has spoken of the plight of grandparents who lose contact with their grandchildren as a result of family breakdown, feud or bereavement.

In the UK, grandparents don’t have an automatic right to contact with their grandchildren. However, they can ask the Court for permission to apply for a Child Arrangements Order to see them. It is rare for an application by a grandparent to be refused, unless it can be shown not to be in the child’s best interests.

Exeter students debate divorce and social issues

Students from Exeter College honed their debating skills and awareness of legal issues with a debate on divorce and the role of women in modern society organised by young lawyers from a leading local firm.
