Charming country house for sale in Devon

The Exeter office of leading property consultancy JLL has been instructed to sell the Harrabeer Country House Hotel, Yelverton, an established business on the southern edge of Dartmoor National Park.

Understood to date from the 1680s with a Victorian extension in 1850, the property offers a traditional and charming style.

The original farmhouse building provides for six letting bedrooms, restaurant, drawing room and lounge bar. In addition there is a converted barn which provides for two independent one bedroom self-catering apartments with occupancy for four in each....

Dream wedding winners tell of their amazing day

A couple from Cullompton have enjoyed a ‘magical’ luxury wedding at a top Exeter hotel after winning an £8,000 package for their dream day.

Mercure Exeter Southgate celebrates £2m investment

The Mercure Exeter Southgate hotel today celebrated the completion of a £2 million investment project, transforming the interior of the city centre hotel.

The final phase of the extensive refurbishment completes the redesign of the reception, Gate House restaurant, bar, lounge, terrace and all 156 bedrooms.

The redesign has been inspired by the famous Exeter Book, an incredibly precious Anglo-Saxon tome housed at Exeter Cathedral. Written in 970 AD, the manuscript contains the world’s oldest and largest collection of Old English poetry.

A Devon man enjoyed a complimentary weekend of relaxation at one of Exeter’s top hotels after running around the whole world!

Kevin Carr, who has become the fastest man to run, solo and unsupported around the globe, in 621 days, had a well-deserved rest at the Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel in Southernhay.

The team at the city centre hotel decided to offer Kevin a free weekend, after hearing about his incredible achievement, which saw Kevin, from Woolacombe, arrived back in the county at Haytor on 9 April beating the existing world record by less than 24 hours.

Exeter hotel raises over £7,000 for charity

A top Exeter hotel pulled in thousands of pounds for charity in 2014 by hosting everything from a sky dive to a pumpkin contest.

The Mercure Exeter Southgate raised more than £7,500 for a number of charities - and has big plans to do even better this year.

The charities that have benefitted from the novel fundraising events include Contact the Elderly, Exeter Foundation, Age UK and Hospiscare.
