New mural uncovered promoting acts of kindness in central Exeter

The ‘Exeter Kindness Mural’ is now complete, inspiring passers-by to be kind to others. Painted by local artist, Paul Colsell, it is a reproduction of a famous Charley Mackesy illustration from his best-selling book and Oscar-winning film. The Exeter Daily previously covered news of the project getting the go ahead last July. The Crossline Building in Heavitree Road has been scaffolded for several months while the gable wall was renovated and painted. Overnight closures planned for Fore Street in Heavitree

Overnight resurfacing work will be carried out in Fore Street, Heavitree, for six nights at the start of next month.

The road will be closed from 9pm until 7am each night from Monday 2 October until Friday 6 October and then again on the evening of Monday 9 October.

The scheme, on the section of Fore Street between the junctions with Whipton Lane and North Street, has been scheduled to take place at night in order to reduce disruption to road users. Fore Street will be fully open during daytime hours.

Fore Street Flea Market is back for July!

On Sunday 23rd July, Exeter's Fore Street will be hosting its second Flea Market of the year. The Flea Market is from 12-4, come rain or shine!

With 100 diverse stalls from regional and local producers, makers, designers, antiques, vintage and independent retailers, along with vintage cars, the Fore Street Flea promises to be an unmissable event. It really is a day for the whole family, with live music and local food including a Farmers Market selling Bread, Ice Cream and Olives and much more, really showcasing what is best about Exeter.

Sunday 21st May marks the 2017 return of the Fore Street Flea Market!

Coinciding with Art Week Exeter, this community event is set to be the biggest so far with over 80 diverse stalls brought to you by the traders of the West Quarter and local residents.

On Sunday 18th September the Fore Street Collective hosted their very first Fore Street Flea Market, an event that saw the street closed to traffic to make way for a wonderful array of stalls and activity.

The local West Quarter traders took their chance to spread their wares on to the street, with many of the shops opening additional Sunday hours to capture the swarms of regular and new customers exploring the area. Fore Street to partially close for sewer repairs

Fore Street, Exeter, will be closed to through traffic for three weeks while South West Water repairs a collapsed sewer.

Fore Street will be closed between Bartholomew Street West and Market Street from Monday 19 September to Friday 7 October with diversions in place.

South West Water Project Manager James Howourth explained: “We need to repair a collapsed sewer that has flooded one of the properties on Fore Street. This will involve digging to a depth of four metres in the middle of the road.

Man who died in Exeter lorry crash named

Police have released the name of the pedestrian who died following a collision with a lorry in Exeter on Saturday.

The man has been identified as 77-year old Eric Carnell of Bartholomew Street West in Exeter.

Police, fire and ambulance were called just prior to 1pm on Saturday 25 July to attend Fore Street, Exeter after reports of a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian.

Mr Carnell was pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after.

Fore Street was closed for around six hours as specialist forensic investigation of the scene took place.

A pedestrian has died following a collision with a lorry in Exeter on Saturday.

Police, fire and ambulance were called just prior to 1pm on Saturday 25th July to attend Fore Street, Exeter after reports of a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian.

A 78-year old man from the Exeter area was confirmed deceased on arrival at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

A formal identification has yet to be carried out.

Emergency services attended a serious collision on Fore Street in Exeter city centre on Saturday (25 July).

Police and ambulance were called just before 1pm to attend Fore Street, Exeter after reports of a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 78 year old male from the Exeter area, was confirmed deceased at the scene.

Fore Street was closed in both directions for several hours whilst an investigation of the scene took place.
