Flybe unveils colourful jet in support of charity partner

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, today (8th December 2015) unveiled a special birthday surprise to Meg Clark from Kent who won the carrier’s recent UK-wide art competition held in support of its charity partner, Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens - her winning entry had been superimposed on to the airline’s first purple branded Embraer 195 jet!

Accompanied by her family, Meg - who coincidentally also celebrated her fifth birthday today - thought she was just heading to Flybe’s Exeter HQ for a simple presentation ceremony and hangar visit to celebrate winning a family...

New regional Exeter air routes welcomed

Aviation Minister Robert Goodwill has welcomed the new domestic routes that will start in 2016 from Newquay and Exeter airports.

The Chancellor announced in last week’s Spending Review that 11 successful bidders across the UK had been awarded support from the UK Government’s Regional Air Connectivity Fund. The new flights will offer fast journey times to Leeds-Bradford and Norwich.

Flybe to extend sunshine flights from Exeter

Flybe will offer year-round sunshine holiday flights at Exeter Airport following a deal with Regional & City Airports (RCA), the airport management division of Rigby Group PLC, Exeter Airport’s owner.

The partnership, which involves significant investment from both parties, will safeguard the future of Exeter Airport’s existing summer holiday flights to Alicante, Faro, Malaga and Palma, and will see year-round services being introduced to Alicante and Malaga. The frequency of winter flights to Geneva will also be increased.

Exeter's first yoga classes for children!

Exeter’s first Yoga for Children classes have now been launched by Annelie Carver (former partner of Michelmores and Ashfords and more recently General Counsel and Company Secretary of Flybe).

Annelie Carver has been teaching yoga to adults for a number of years ( www.lookwithinyoga.com ) and decided to train to teach yoga to children earlier this year. Annelie had found that most adults normally come to yoga later on in life due to stress, illness or injury and most of her students commented that they wished they had discovered yoga much earlier in life.

Flybe brings back Exeter to Glasgow route

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has announced the return of direct flights to and from Glasgow as part of its 2015-16 Winter programme, operating four days a week and effective for travel between 25 October 2015 and 26 March 2016.

One way fares are from £34.99 including taxes and charges.

Exeter Airport’s Managing Director, Matt Roach, said: “Although we have continued to have connectivity to Glasgow via Flybe’s Manchester hub, the return of this direct route is very welcome.

Flybe share price rises

Exeter-based Flybe's share price improved this morning as the airline released its latest finacial figures. Flybe, which issued an encouraging trading update for the first quarter, said it had managed to cut the cost of a UK seat by 3.4 per cent to £51.92. The budget airline share price was up 6.3 per cent in early trading on the back of an upbeat trading statement, reporting “sustained passenger and revenue growth” saying it was now in “the next chapter of its transformation”.

Seat capacity climbed 12.3 per cent to 2.8m seats, while passenger numbers grew 9.8 per cent to 2.1m....

Management changes at Flybe

Flybe today announced that Paul Simmons, Chief Commercial Officer, is to leave the company in mid-January 2016 to take up a role with Malaysian Airlines based in Kuala Lumpur. Following Paul's departure, Flybe will move to a new commercial organisational structure. The Chief Commercial Officer role will be split into two, with both new roles sitting on the Operating Board and reporting to CEO, Saad Hammad. The first role is to head Network Planning and Development, establishing this as a separate function. This is to ensure that as Flybe drives network expansion, new route investment...

Exeter Airport reports a busy Easter

Easter was the busiest period of the year so far for Exeter Airport with over sixteen and a half thousand inbound and outbound passengers using the airport over the holiday period; a figure which was helped by the re-introduction of the Flybe ‘sun routes’ to Alicante, Malaga and Faro.

A high level of bookings on the other Flybe services, together with those of Skybus and Thomson flights which operated to as far away as Sharm El Sheikh, meant that the airport was over fifteen percent busier than Easter last year.

Flybe returns to growth

Exeter-based Flybe has announced the following trading update ahead of the announcement on 10th June of its results for the year ended March 31 2015:

Flybe saw a return to growth in both seat capacity and revenue in the final quarter of the year, having completed the first year of its three year turnaround and is positioned well to continue its positive momentum. The airline delivered 15% additional capacity in Q4 2014/15, but held its load factors constant and delivered 15% passenger growth. Junior tennis players battle it out at Flybe Tournament

On Saturday 28th February, Exeter Golf and Country Club’s hosted a 10 and under Flybe Mini Green Tennis tournament with players from Devon, Cornwall and Somerset taking part.

The fifteen entrants were split into three groups and took part in a round robin event.

The group winners were Toby Watts (Tarka), Ben Johnson (Exmouth) and Zac Brown (Exmouth) who won all of their four matches.

Billy Turl (Exeter Golf and Country Club) was involved in two of the closest matches. The very first match of the competition, Billy v Toby, was decided by a tie-break with Billy...
