Cranbrook: Your town, Your future, Your say

Residents of Cranbrook and neighbouring parishes are being encouraged to take part in a community consultation on how Devon’s newest town will grow and develop.

East Devon District Council are inviting all those living or working in and around Cranbrook to have their say on a range of subjects as part of the ‘Your town, Your future, Your say’ consultation which runs for 6 weeks from 13 June – 25 July 2016.

Comments are being sought on topics including health and wellbeing, culture, sport and community, economy and enterprise, energy and climate change, transport, landscape...

What an amazing Exeter Rainbow Run! With 1700 runners, steel drummers, Storm Troopers, Heart FM and bouncy castles, this year’s Children’s Hospice South West’s Rainbow Run was the best yet! As part of the 25th Anniversary celebrations for the charity, the run started with silver streamers and the record number of participants enjoyed a madcap, mayhem of riotous colour as they ran through the paint stations along the course. Appeal after man badly injured in hit and run

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was found seriously injured in the road in Bradninch.

At around 11.30pm on Saturday 11 June 2016 police were informed by ambulance of an apparent hit and run road traffic collision on West End Road.

A 53-year-old local man was found in the road with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. The type of vehicle involved remains unknown.

He is described as being in a stable condition at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Primary school pupils to re-enact famous day in Devon’s history

Sixty-four nine-year-olds from Year 5 at Broadclyst Community Primary School (BCPS) will be taking on the challenge of re-enacting a famous day in Devon’s history when they perform It’s our land in the house and grounds at National Trust Killerton on 16 and 17 June.

£1,000 fund open for community centres

Following the relaunch of RGB Building Supplies’ Well Built Community Fund in April, the builders merchant is now calling for community centres and village halls in the Exeter area to get in contact and tell them how £1,000 worth of building materials would be of help.

Schools celebrate healthy eating week

To mark British Nutrition Foundation Healthy Eating Week (13–17 June 2016), schools across Devon are celebrating the results of the Food for Life programme.

A one day show of LEGO creations is coming to the city centre's Exeter Phoenix on Saturday 30 July.

West Country Brick Show promises an imaginative family day out in the school summer holidays.

The show organisers, 'West Country Bricks' are made up of LEGO fan builders and traders who will be proudly displaying their impressive creations and wealth of LEGO building expertise.

The event will feature large model replicas from history and science fiction, including a giant Star Wars mosaic. There is also a rare opportunity to see a vintage display of a 1960's town...

Four serving or retired members of staff and representatives from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service have been honoured in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Former Station Manager Rob Carlson receives an OBE for Services to Road Safety, Fire Authority Chairman Cllr Mark Healey and former Group Manager Loz Adams receive MBEs and Alan White a BEM.
