£750 film commission up for grabs

In a live pitch, budding filmmakers are being given the opportunity to win a package of support from Exeter Phoenix to make their film idea reality. This week Exeter Phoenix launched the application process for the first of a series of films it will commission during 2017 – The South West Animation Film Commission. Police appeal to find missing teenager

Police are appalling to the public for information on missing 15-year-old Luke Bayment.

Sergeant Colin Harper Neighbourhood Team Leader for Exeter said: “For Luke to not be in contact with anyone for this long is out of character, and we are hoping that someone knows of his whereabouts. Luke isn’t in trouble, we just need to know that he is safe and well and for him to get in contact with the police.

“Luke is described as 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, with shoulder length light brown hair.

"He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and black jogging bottoms....

Family donate photography equipment to RD&E labour ward

Parents Claire and Mark Rider have donated photography equipment to the labour ward at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital to help families capture precious memories if their baby is born sleeping.

The couple founded the charity Ayrton’s Dream in memory of their son Aryton who they lost in May 2013. The charity aims to support families who suffer a similar bereavement on the Labour Ward at the RD&E and have recently funded the refurbishment of the Heartsease Room, a place set aside for parents who have a still born child.

Entries are now open for the Michelmores Charity 5k Run, which will take place on 8 September 2016 at 6.30pm.

This year the Exeter law firm is aiming to attract a record 1,200 runners, encouraging local people and businesses to get together to celebrate the city of Exeter and to fundraise for Michelmores' local Charity of the Year, Balloons, who support bereaved children and their families in Exeter and beyond.

A wildlife garden and historic mill in the heart of Exeter will be opening its doors to the public for a special summer open day. The ‘Water and Wildlife’ event is being held at Cricklepit Mill, the headquarters of Devon Wildlife Trust, on Friday 12 August, 10am – 3pm. A globally-renowned dementia and ageing expert who has headed up prestigious research facilities has been appointed as the new Executive Dean and Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter Medical School.

The run takes place over a five-kilometre city centre course starting and finishing on Exeter's Cathedral Green.
