Word on Tour kicks off in Devon

Literature Works is delighted to announce the line-up for the first ‘Word on Tour’ event, kicking off a 26-venue live literature tour of local libraries in the South West.

On 10th January, Bideford Library will host acclaimed novelist Jane Feaver and folk singer and song-writer Jim Causley.

Jane Feaver is a prize-winning Devon-based novelist and short story writer, who lectures in Creative Writing at the University of Exeter. Jim Causley is well known for setting the work of much-loved Cornish poet Charles Causley to music, forming an exciting pairing at this unique event...

National Youth Film Academy is coming to Exeter

The National Youth Film Academy (NYFA) is coming to the South West on the lookout for the best up and coming young actors and filmmakers.

The NYFA offers 10 day Introductory Courses at Easter and during the Summer for young people aged 16-25 who want to break into the film industry.

Across the two weeks they are given the opportunity to develop and produce their own short film, which is then showcased to friends and family at a local picturehouse.

Leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, is reminding local people that there is only one week left to complete their economic well-being survey.

The survey will highlight the current financial and employment situation in Exeter.

It will help Citizens Advice Exeter to highlight trends with policy-makers and to further tailor their advice and information resources to meet the needs of local people.

For some families, this will be the last Christmas they spend together. This December, Hospiscare is asking for your help to give patients with terminal illnesses the Christmas they deserve.

South West accountants and financial planners Old Mill and Somerset based charity St. Margaret's Hospice have raised more than £15,000 by holding a 'Glitter Ball'. On Saturday 18 November, almost 200 people from across the region gathered at Haselbury Mill Tithe Barn just outside of Crewkerne to raise funds for St. Margaret's Hospice.
