British Transport Police are appealing for information after a train guard was assaulted on a train between Newcourt and Digby and Sowton.

At around 3.40pm on Monday (19 February), four teenagers became abusive towards their train guard when he asked to see the tickets.

The group – made up of three girls and one boy – all spat at him, which landed on his face and uniform.

Though uninjured, it left the guard extremely shaken.

Were you on the train and did you see what happened? Or do you have any information which you think might help?

Investigating officer PC Stewart Warne said: “This frankly disgusting type of behaviour will not, and should not, be tolerated.

“We’re investigating fully, including looking at CCTV of the incident, and so I urge anyone with information to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by calling 0800 40 50 40 or texting 61016, with reference 404 of 19 February.
