Tinkerers, tailors and expert fixers urged to join Repair Cafe revolution

Devon is embracing the Repair Café revolution with more residents than ever before choosing to breathe new life into old possessions and having them fixed instead of throwing them away.

But now, as more people are choosing repair and reuse over discard and buy more, Devon’s six Repair Cafes are urging the county’s hidden handymen and women to sign up and join their army of volunteer fixers.

Santa Claus is coming to Town

This December, Santa Claus and his elves will be based in the heart of Exeter city centre.

New to Princesshay this year, Santa and some of his elves will have their very own Arctic Adventure on the 1st-2nd December and 8th-9th December 10am-4pm.

Princesshay has transformed the former Hobbs store with snow covered trees and decorations to create a truly authentic Artic Adventure. All the way from the North Pole, Santa’s sleigh will land for family pictures to capture the Christmas magic.

Exeter Chief’s HITZ participant Aidan Seal has been presented with the Academic Achiever Award at the star-studded 2018 HITZ Awards, as he works towards his goal of joining the Navy. You'll find stalls selling crafts, Christmas goods and bric-a-brac as well as a tombola, draw and refreshments.

Exeter Airport’s winter flight schedule brings new opportunities to do business in a sought-after location, where companies already benefit from business rate relief.

Flybe recently added some extra flights on key business routes from Exeter Airport bringing improved national and international connectivity for corporate and leisure trips.

The new schedule starts on the 28th October and includes a number of significant enhancements, with up to 110 flights a week to 17 destinations.

Traffic signal replacement work at busy Exeter junction

Preparatory work is underway to upgrade traffic signals at a junction in Alphington Street, Exeter, later this month.

Temporary traffic signals will be in place at the junction of Exe Bridge/Alphington Street and Alphington Street/Haven Road, from Wednesday 24 October to enable the work to be carried out.

The signals, poles and electrics will all be replaced, and cable ducting will also be repaired. As much of the scheme as possible will be carried out using the existing traffic signals but the temporary lights will be used when the main signals are replaced.

A Devon arts education charity that has worked with more than 170,000 children and young people is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Daisi works across Devon, Torbay and the wider South West to enable young people to enjoy the best quality creative arts experiences. Fundraising dinner raises £7,500 to combat homelessness across Exeter

On Friday 12th October YMCA Exeter held its third annual fundraising dinner at Woodbury Park Hotel with guests including The High Sheriff of Devon, Mrs Grania Philips, and Chief Constable of Devon & Cornwall Police, Shaun Sawyer.

The Black Tie event was attended by 160 people and through ticket sales, a silent auction and individual pledges, and so far YMCA Exeter have raised £7,500 with donations still being made.
