Plans for new entertainment venue in Exeter to be explored

Plans to look into the feasibility of a new multi-purpose performance venue in Exeter City Centre have taken a step forward.

Exeter City Council has appointed destination development experts Fourth Street to explore the potential, opportunity and viability of an entertainment venue as part of the £300 million plans to redevelop the wider St Sidwell’s Point area – next to the leisure centre and new bus station - which were revealed in November.

Chiefs side to face Worcester Warriors

Rob Baxter will take nothing for granted when his Exeter Chiefs side travel to Worcester Warriors in tomorrow's Gallagher Premiership clash at Sixways (3pm).

Although the two rivals are at opposite ends of the table, the Devonians know from past experience that any drop in standard can potentially lead to disaster.

Proposals to progress with a planning application for the next section of the Teign Estuary Trail and a strategy to complete gaps in the route will go before Devon County Councillors next week (Wednesday 13 March). The County Council's Cabinet is being asked to approve the Teign Estuary Trail strategy to connect the route between Passage House Inn and Dawlish. A recommendation is also being made to agree to progress with a planning application for the section between Passage House Inn and Teignmouth. Exeter wins funding to tackle homelessness

Exeter has won funding to help get homeless people off the streets and into homes, the City Council has announced.

Exeter City Council will received £120,800 from the government.

One of the many problems the Council faces is getting homeless people into private rented properties. Often landlords will achieve higher rents from elsewhere in the market.

The money will help address the issue improving access to private to these properties for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and rough sleeping.

England Women’s Marlie Packer and Lagi Tuima have visited Sandy Park ahead of round four of the Women’s Six Nations where England will take on Italy on Saturday, March 9 (12.05pm).

With over 9,700 tickets currently sold, the upcoming game will be a record breaker in terms of number of tickets sold to a Red Roses’ home fixture outside of a Women’s Rugby World Cup.
