The Devon County Agricultural Association staged its first ever Devon County Show in May in 1872 at Victoria Park, Exeter. Despite a torrential downpour, which almost washed the President’s luncheon guests out of his marquee, that first show was a great success. Over 25,000 people attended to admire the 500 livestock on show, and marvel at more than 800 machinery exhibits. Exeter residents thanked for "fantastic job" recycling at Christmas

Exeter’s recycling chief has thanked city residents for their recycling efforts over the Christmas period and urged people to reduce, reuse and recycle, moving forward.

Hundreds of tonnes of aluminium cans, plastic containers and cardboard boxes were collected from houses across Exeter over the holidays.

The materials are now being sorted and sent off, bringing in valuable revenue to ensure that key frontline services can be maintained.

Exeter second best city for cyclists according to new survey

Exeter has been declared the second best city for cyclists, a new study has revealed.

Exeter scored good points for good air quality, cycling and walking statistics according to the survey by law firm True Solicitors.

Exeter was pipped into first place by Lancaster but fared much better than big cities London and Manchester, who came bottom of the rankings.

The 6 Music Homecoming Tour sees Steve Lamacq take his BBC Radio 6 Music show to five UK cities during Independent Venue Week 2020 (IVW) which returns for a seventh year, celebrating smaller and grassroots music venues. Popular Exeter park set to get community hub

Park users in Heavitree will soon be able to grab a coffee and a cake while on the go, thanks to a grant from Exeter City Council.

Community charity Park Life Heavitree is building a café and community facility in Heavitree Pleasure Ground.

The café will offer affordable, locally-sourced food and drink and the building will include toilets and a community space that will be able to be hired by local groups.
