Latest section of E4 walking and cycling route opens in Exeter

The latest section of one of Devon County Council’s main cross-city walking and cycling routes has been completed.

The stretch of the E4 route from Pinhoe Road to Exhibition Way is now open, connecting it to the first phase of the route on Cumberland Way and onto Redhayes Bridge over the M5 to connect with the east of Exeter.

These most recent improvements have widened existing shared paths along Pinhoe Road and include priority crossings. A two-way cycle route, with a ‘buffer’ zone segregating cyclists from the road, has also been developed along part of Exhibition Way...

Exeter needs more space for walking and cycling, not cars.

We need a Green Recovery from the covid-19 crisis, including massive investment in walking, cycling and public transport infrastructure. The government’s decision to spend £27 billion on new road building is now clearly out of date - social distancing measures mean that we need more space for people to walk and cycle safely. Cities across the world, including Athens, Paris and Bristol, have recently announced plans to cut traffic, and pedestrianise areas of the city centre. Let’s do this here in Exeter as well. Baxter's delight as 30 agree new deals at Chiefs

The forward-thinking of Exeter Chiefs Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter, has today hit a new level with confirmation that he has signed 30 of his senior squad to new long-term deals at Sandy Park.

A new art installation has been unveiled in Princesshay today. The giant rainbow installation, entitled Hope, will brighten the canopy of the centre, high above shoppers’ heads, this summer.

New helipad opens at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital

A brand new helipad at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E) is now open, thanks to a £1million donation from the HELP Appeal – the only charity in the country dedicated to funding NHS hospital helipads.

The hospital’s previous helipad was unable to receive night landings, but the new helipad is equipped with lighting so air ambulances will be able to land during darkness hours. A church in Exeter is opening its doors for those who are in need of food during this time of national crisis.
