Rare posters showing the glamorous stars of cinema’s Golden Age have returned to Britain, thanks to a donation by one of the world’s foremost movie memorabilia collectors.

The artwork has been given to The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum at the University of Exeter. The gift comes as the museum has recently reopened to the public after lockdown so everyone can again enjoy the collection of over 80,000 artefacts.

Builders merchant launches campaign to support local businesses

Co Bikes hire scheme unveil new 'dockless' sites

The expansion of Exeter’s Co Bikes, the UK’s first on-street city electric bike hire scheme, continues with three new dockless sites for the city.

The new stations, which need no fixed infrastructure for bikes to be locked into, are being trialled at the junction of Magdalen Road and College Road, in Digby Park & Ride and outside Chapel Platt Surgery in Topsham.

Mears is pleased to announce that from 01 December 2020, we have been appointed to be Exeter City Council’s partner to deliver the new Integrated Asset Management contract which supersedes the current repairs response and void refurbishment contract.

This will build on the strong relationship we have established over the last 10 years which saw us repair over 6000 properties. Photography competition to find favourite trees in Exeter

People are being asked to take a picture of their favourite tree in Exeter as part of a photographic competition.

The best picture will win a tree – kindly donated by Devon Tree Services - and a framed photograph of the picture. There is also an under-16 category for budding junior photographers, with the same prizes donated by the City Council.

The competition is being run by Exeter City Council in the run up to National Tree Week – 28 November to 6 December.

With the clocks set to go back on the last Sunday in October (25 Oct), Devon County Council is issuing its annual “be safe, be seen” message to road users.

The authority is reminding everyone to take extra care on Devon’s roads at this time of year, particularly in poor weather conditions when visibility may be reduced.

Cyclists, pedestrians, motorcyclists, and horse riders are encouraged to wear reflective and fluorescent clothing to ensure they can be seen.
