The FORCE Cancer Charity Santa Cycle is back on Saturday November 27.

The festive ride is described as a must for your family calendar.

Starting at The Topsham School, the six-mile route follows the stunning Exe Estuary cycle path to Exmouth.

Riders then join a Stuart Line Cruises boat for an enjoyable trip back up the River Exe to Topsham Quay.

Mince pies, mulled wine and soft drinks are served on board as families celebrate a fun and festive ride.

Spaces are limited to around 130 cyclists so early booking is advised.

Car club and bike share operators Co Cars and Co Bikes have been awarded joint accreditation by the UK’s shared transport charity.

Collaborative Mobility UK (CoMoUK) runs the national scheme which provides assurance to local authorities on an agreed set of standards expected by operators when providing services.

People across Devon are being reminded it’s not too late to have the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

More than thirteen thousand people across Devon are not fully vaccinated more than twelve weeks after their first dose. They include over seven and a half thousand people who initially had a first dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine.

A study funded by Public Health England found that having only one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine gives around 30% protection against the predominant Delta variant but protection rises substantially after a second dose.

The first Covid-19 booster vaccinations have been administered in Devon.

Roy Warnes was among the first to have his booster dose at the Home Park vaccination site. Roy has volunteered at Home Park since it opened and explained why it was so important to get his booster vaccination today: “I think some people are getting a bit blasé and taking less care. I would say don’t hesitate to get your booster. I’ve got lots of friends who can’t wait to come.”

Footing the cost? Cost per square foot of property in Exeter area rises to 8% higher than the UK national average

Exeter’s rocketing property prices have seen the average cost of one square foot of property in the city and nearby areas climb to £305, according to new data from Zoopla . That’s 8% higher than the UK national average, which currently stands at £282 per square foot.

The data examined property prices in Exeter, East Devon and Mid Devon and reveals that in Mid Devon, the average cost of property per sq ft is £277. In Exeter, the price rises to £312 per sq ft, while climbing even further in East Devon to £326 per sq ft.

Exeter apprentice starts new learning journey with Amazon

An apprentice who works at Amazon’s delivery station in Exeter is taking the first step on the path to higher education and new experiences after joining the Amazon Apprenticeship programme.

Amazon is creating 1,000 full-time apprenticeships in the UK this year. The apprenticeships cover 25 different programmes ranging from IT, safety technician and HR through to software engineering and creative digital design. Roles include 100 degree-level apprenticeships and more than 500 apprenticeships for Amazon employees, providing an opportunity to retrain and gain new skills
