Le Tour - an innovative new running event for Exeter

Ironbridge Runner Events and City Runs have teamed up to provide Exeter with a completely new running experience. Le Tour of Exeter takes elements from Le Tour de France to give participants the experience of 3 very different races.

Le Tour of Exeter will take place on 26, 27 and 28 July and is an inclusive event aimed at all standards of runner.

The first stage will be a 10k road race, fast, flat and traffic free, using the footpaths and cycle paths around the River Exe and flood relief channel.

Business Network (SW) celebrates 20th Anniversary with original founder-members

A South West networking organisation celebrated its 20th anniversary at an organised lunch held in Exeter. Nearly 100 members of the Business Network (SW) joined current owner Sean Humby together with special guests, founder members Jim and Jackie Enright. Magician and original Business Network (SW) member Mark Leveridge acted as MC for the event held at Sandy Park.

Sean Humby took over the business in 2007 and today has 149 members across the South West region with membership retention of 89%. The turnover of £85,000 is up by 13% on last year’s figures.

Local Art Show 2013 competition launched

All art groups and societies from Exeter and the surrounding area are invited to submit their entries for the 2013 Local Art Show.

Shortlisted entrants will be featured in the Express and Echo throughout August and readers will vote for their favourite one. The name of the successful group will be announced on 29 August and they will exhibit their members' work in the museum from 24 September to 16 October. All entries must be submitted before Friday 19 July.

Exeter train travellers found to be least tolerant of litterbugs in the UK

New research from a leading train company has found that littering on trains is the number one source of rail-rage amongst passengers in Exeter, but travellers would need to be overwhelmed by passengers’ smelly odours before acting on their annoyance.

The survey, conducted by train company CrossCountry, found that more than half of people in Exeter (57%) are most aggravated by passengers leaving their rubbish behind – making them the least tolerant of litterbugs in the UK.
