Shortlisted from 105 entries, an artwork developed for an exhibition at RAMM has won an international linocut prize.

Exeter-based artist Volkhardt Müller adapted 12 little plastic TVs with musical clockwork to play finely carved miniature lino cuts on a perpetual roll for the Witness Box display in the exhibition, Any High Street. Warning after fires started by disposable barbecues

Fire crews from Exmouth have been called to two separate incidents in the last few days involving disposable barbecues being placed in plastic bins when they were still hot.

In the early hours of 22 July, crews were called to Exmouth Cricket Club, Queens Drive, after reports of a fire on the outside of the building. The fire damaged part of the tea rooms and crews were able to stop the fire spreading further into the building.

Devon Photographer Meia Allegranza launches exhibition in Topsham

Topsham-based commercial photographer and published poet, Meia Allegranza, is launching a Poetography Exhibition on 1 August 2013 in Topsham’s The Café.

The exhibition, called “Poetography for the All Generations”, will showcase Meia’s two passions, photography and poetry, as she brings together 14 of her favourite Photos and poems.

The exhibition, which will be free to attend, will run from 1-31 August during The Café’s opening hours 10am–4.30pm.

Teignbridge’s army of waste teams are getting out and about to help ensure beaches, parks and beauty spots are free from summer rubbish – but they are urging residents and visitors to help them out.

The council is providing its busy resorts with extra litter and wheelie bins and is also arranging for extra street cleans to get underway but hopes locals, holidaymakers and businesses to help ‘keep it clean’ by disposing of rubbish safely or taking it home with them.

Devon finalists in NatWest Venus Awards, dubbed ‘The Working Women’s Oscars’, have been treated to afternoon tea at the luxurious Magdalen Chapter Hotel in Exeter. The event, which was also attended by several members of the local media, was held to give to give the finalists an opportunity to meet each other and their sponsors.

Exeter Cathedral has created a very special baby book for the people of Devon to sign to congratulate Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, on the safe arrival of their baby son.

The baby book is available for people to sign from Tuesday morning, in an area just inside the Cathedral, from 9am to 4.45pm every day for the next two weeks. Once it has been signed, it will be bound in burgundy leather and will then be sent as an offering from Exeter Cathedral and the county of Devon to the Royal couple.

Big Noise Chorus - Summer Concert

The Big Noise Chorus invites the people of Exeter to watch them perform this Friday at The Great Hall in Exeter University to raise money for the WESC Foundation and Exeter Leukaemia Fund. The Big Noise Chorus is a choir like none other, as they believe it’s not your singing ability that makes you a perfect candidate for their choir, but a passion for music.

Exeter Golf and Country Club submits planning application for safety netting

Exeter Golf and Country Club has submitted a planning application to Exeter City Council for high safety netting around part of its boundary.

A development of around 25 new houses, called Great Woodcote Park, are being built by Charles Church, which is part of the Persimmon group, on a section of the golf course boundary.

The Club has been advised by two separate specialist golf architects that the houses are sited too close to the boundary, increasing the risk of golf balls leaving the course and causing injury or damage.
