Food Poverty Project poised to win The People’s Millions

Local charity The Devon and Cornwall Food Association has been shortlisted as the potential recipient of up to £50,000 of People’s Millions Lottery Funding – an opportunity that will enable them to expand the vital work they do to redistribute in-date food that would otherwise be sent to landfill.

Their project, Devon and Cornwall Food Action, is one of two projects chosen for the South West region but your help is now sought to secure the funding.

Council supports Rowing Club’s move

East Devon District Council’s Cabinet yesterday has agreed to support Exmouth Rowing Club to move into the old lifeboat station adjacent to their existing premises on Queen’s Drive.

This will allow the council to move forward with its plans for the regeneration of Queen’s Drive.

The club will be charged a reduced rent for the new premises to be reviewed after five years. Refurbishment of the building to bring it up to date is to be funded by the club through an Inspired Facilities grant from Sport England.

Otterton Mill is to feature in the brand new series of BBC Two's Celebrity Antiques Roadtrip.

The show, which airs next Monday (4 November), follows celebrity couple Phil Vickery and Fern Britton, as they scour Devon antique shops for treasures that will make them a profit.
